IMO "new arrivals" are mostly escaping a limiting life prospect in their respective countries of origin and that they are mostly concerned with a job, the prospect of bringing up a family and personal security and they will likely have scant knowledge of why Aus is Aus today because of its history.
Our current intake of immigrants are a mix of refugees, skilled workers and family reunions who are attracted here because of our standard of living.. not how we achieved that .
