Somalia: Puntland Warns on Kidnapping Foreigners

Bosaso — Abdullahi Sa'id Samatar, the security minister of Somalia's northern region of Puntland has Tuesday warned kidnapping foreigners after releasing Imraan Khan a Pakistani man who was captured recently in Puntland.

Speaking in a ceremony welcoming for the release of the Pakistani employee of a mining company, the minister said that they were planning to free him forcibly from the kidnappers warning that they will not tolerate such brutal actions against the foreign people in Puntland.

"Those who are involved in the kidnapping actions should stop that. They should not make other crimes like that one again because we don't need to kidnap the people in the regions of our administration," Mr. Abdullahi Sa'iid Samatar said.

"We are also warning the residents in Galgaala district to protect the bandits who are hiding in that area not to bother or kidnap anyone other wise they take the responsibility of any action happens there," he said.

The statement of the security minister of Puntland Mr. Abdullahi Sa'id comes as the kidnapped Pakistani man was released yesterday (Monday) by those who captured him from the semi-autonomous regions of Puntland
