This could get interesting. It was the AOL merger with Time Warner that threw the petrol on the fire and really got the tech bubble roaring. Up until then the market treated the 'nets as geeks, interesting but not mainstream. The merger caused a lot of fund managers to reassess the IT stocks and the rest is history.
AOL dropped over 10% in a/h trading.
