Usually I wait for the stock to reach the 'golden range' ie. a bottom confirmed by fib retracement ie. .618 level, however I have often tried to pick the bottom of a trading range eg. this one previously between $7.90 - mid $8's which is why I was looking to re-enter. Sometimes that works but other times I get it wrong and make the mistake of not having a stop loss in place. This just happened to me with SPK.
I am no gun trader, few of us are, but I do like to reduce the risk of losing capital as much as possible now that I have few productive years left.....
