Interesting article from upstreamonline. Apache drilling additional seismic. Great news for TAP.

US independent Apache Energy has lodged documents which would give the company the chance to shoot seismic in the Carnarvon basin off the north-west coast of Western Australia.

The company has lodged an environmental referral with the Australian Department of the Environment to carry out a 3D seismic survey to delineate reservoirs.

The survey area will cover WA-49-R and parts of WA-37-L, WA-290-P and WA-359-P.

Apache said the survey was scheduled for early next year and would take about 30 days to complete.

Exact timing would be based on vessel availability, weather conditions and the receipt of statutory approvals.

In July, Apache struck gas while drilling the Bianchi-1 well, which lies in retention lease WA-49-R.

Joint venture partner Tap Oil said wireline logs from the appraisal well confirmed the gas discovery.

Logging while drilling results from the well indicated 128 metres of potential net gas pay across several sandstone intervals.
