That explains many things i.e. why you are screaming for the upgrade. Well we all are, but If I was holding a $2 option and the SP was $1.64 I would want an upgrade even more than most!!!
So the danger to option holders is a suiter coming in and offering between $2-$2.50 as you would not be in the money.
Not even a PMM cash offer would help you at this point in time.
That's the risk of buying options that are out of the money.
At least people know your motives now.
