One factor weighing on APA is the belief it has limited acquisition or organic growth opportunities. But in an interview with AFR after the results were reported, APA strategy chief Ross Gersbach declared that the company isn't running out of growth options. This echoes the FY16 announcement statement:
“During the year, we undertook a review of our performance and strategy and concluded that there are plenty of opportunities to continue to expand and enhance our assets, be they transmission pipelines, renewable and gas-fired generation assets or midstream energy infrastructure assets."
In the AFR interview, CEO McCormack said APA is even looking at US pipeline acquisitions, but continually stated they are cautious: "We might look at the US and spend some time there and come back and think, no we're not going to do it."
