The business owner has not been elected: by anyone. He needs to represent no one but the profit suckers. He (or she, of course) need answer to no one other than civil and criminal laws applicable to all. He is not elected to represent a constituency with complex and often very nuanced needs.
He is totally autocratic. No Parliament, no Senate, no lobby groups, no need feed, clothe, house and nurse anyone other than his profit suckers. He can be totally ruthless in his goals.

He can blatantly rip off many, often with benefit to him and with no personal repercussion.

A society is NOT a business by a very long shot. Nothing like it.

This is one of the core reasons why Howard lost his very own seat and why he hasn't the guts or the invitation to show his face in respectable Oz venues.
