@robert1; the only 'culture' Australians can lay claim to is that of our Aboriginal Peoples. From deep traditional environmental respect to corroborees, Aboriginal Art, the didgeridoo and the Dreamtime its what distinguishes Australians as being unique.

Sadly that culture has been adversely impacted by the Coalition's ongoing unhelpful rhetoric and its crude and racist moves to terminate 'remote Aboriginal communities' [eg. Abbott & Co labelled these 'lifestyle choices'], the Coalition's ideologically inspired military interventions into Aboriginal communities and its blatant and ongoing refusal to even say "Sorry!" to Stolen Generations. That the Coalition sees Aboriginal Peoples as an area to reduce costs so government can $Feed $Greed and gain access for 'business interests' to traditional lands is not something the Coalition wishes to held to account for.

To the eternal credit of Aboriginal Peoples, their efforts to preserve and to promote their culture in the face of a hostile and unsupportive government is really all that Australia has to hang its cultural hat on.

Our media constructed and larrikin beer swilling, cigarette smoking, moronic and racist footy-head behaviour along with warmongering and worship of those who abuse kids behind closed Church doors is hardly 'culture'. Scomo in the front row of a sports stadium instead of at the Aboriginal Ceremony at Uluru; yeah, good one [NOT]!
