We all knew the environmental groups would not accept the decision of the Council nonetheless it is still disappointing when the appeal is actually lodged. Could someone shed some light on the appeals process, how it works, who presides over proceedings, timeframe, etc.
Second question. Assuming Bathurst prevail in the appeals process approval is then required from the DOC. How does the DOC process work and is there a second opportunity for the environmental groups to appeal the DOC decision, assuming it is an approval to mine? Or does this current round of appeals mean that the DOC process is more straightforward?
The reason for the questions is to ascertain the most probable timeframe before construction of the mine infrastructure can begin.
