BUD's very specific in its use of detail
this repeatedly stimulated sp support/buying from readers until the actual meaning became clear
Digicel minimum sales commitment - accepted meaning is that a minimum $ revenue is guaranteed. in this case to tune of $20+m.
the contractual stipulation involved is actually called 'conditional exclusivity' - but using that wording doesnt drive sp bidding.
'monster deal' - implies monster revenues to investors (esp in context of prev announced Digicel 'minimum sales commitment'). whereas in fact it meant monster capital raise and inventory build/marketing spend with no guaranteed income. ie the reverse of the implied benefit
have to remember that was first mentioned in context of company saying it was able to grow Ohm organically without near term CR unless a 'monster deal' arose - implying you;d only do a monster deal if it was guaranteed to drive even more positive free cashflow similarly soon.
record sales - conventional/accepted meaning in financial markets is that this means record $ revenues.
but you could argue a non financial market literate meaning was meant like 'record sales by unit', 'record sales by whatever other category you choose'.
the list goes on and on. same with the careful caveatting and breadcrumb dissolution of the 2018 3yr rev guidance
some people simply do not appreciate the attention to detail in all of this. for the most part, its balletic. 'net cash burn' one of the few exceptions.
i also enjoy the work of bret easton ellis. every phrase and word is a multifaceted gem
