    Principal Geologist - KALGOORLIE

Friday, 27 June 2008 - from MINING NEWS today.

Heron Resources Limited, an ASX listed company with its corporate office in Perth and exploration office in Kalgoorlie, seeks to recruit a Principal Geologist to manage its Kalgoorlie exploration activities. Heron is developing a number of world class nickel laterite deposits in the Kalgoorlie region both in its own right and in partnership with Vale–Inco, one of the world’s largest nickel producers. In addition to the nickel interests, Heron is actively pursuing a number of exploration and near term production opportunities. Heron maintains a large tenement holding and has generated several projects that have become the cornerstone assets for a number of new ASX listed resource companies focusing on a range of commodities.

The Principal Geologist will be responsible for managing the Company’s exploration activities and the day to day operation of the Kalgoorlie office. The Principal Geologist will manage an exploration team currently comprising ten people including four Geologists. Activities will include brown and green fields exploration as well as the acquisition of new tenements. The majority of the work will be centred around nickel exploration in the Kalgoorlie region, however other commodities in Australia and internationally will also require evaluation. Some intrastate, interstate and international travel may accordingly be required. The Principal Geologist’s tasks will be management of exploration programs including project generation, planning and execution of drilling programs, evaluation of exploration results and budgeting. The position reports to the Exploration Manager.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in Geology preferably with Honours or a high level and have field experience to at least the level of a Senior Exploration Geologist. The person will ideally be familiar with Archaean geology and nickel mineralisation as well as have a working knowledge of the WA Mining Act. This is an exciting career opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills keen to join a well funded company with excellent growth potential. Heron will offer the right person an attractive remuneration package including a generous Company share option package. The position is residential in the City of Kalgoorlie – Boulder with field work required from time to time.
