Apple (iOS 8) roll-out the Healthkit ResApp

    Apple in its iOS 8 started to roll-out the Healthkit, ResApp is part of it..

    iPhone has been a status level standard in terms of mobile phone ownership. But more than its classy reputation, it offers a range of iOS Applications to address healthcare issues.  It now evolved into a medical device with technological developments on software and hardware.
      

    Three apps on development was announced to address basic health issues – cough, sleep and bipolar episodes.
    ResApp is a smartphone app from The University of Queensland Australia that can diagnose asthma or pneumonia by analyzing sound signature of four to five coughs. It can determine also the severity of a person’s ailment. It has a high accuracy level of above 90%.

    Another app called Priori is being developed at the University of Michigan with the goal of predicting bipolar episodes. It listens to changes in voice speed and other phone call patterns, and alerts caregivers or doctors if an episode is about to happen. It is already successfully tested, and aiming to release a beta version soon.
    An unnamed app still on the works are to be used to diagnose sleep apnea. It is founded at University of Washington. The app pushes inaudible sonar sounds from phone to a patient that bounce back and determine variations in breathing which in turn diagnose if a patient is experiencing sleep apnea. Trials made are also successful.
    With this initiative by Apple, and the perseverance of researchers, we can expect mobile healthcare to reach the comforts of our home. We can make use of technological development in the best interest we have – our health.
