there has been in zero hint that Apple is developing their own neuromorphic circuitry (as specified in their patents)
the neuromorphic vision sensors are not competition - we make sensors intelligent.
Apples new beast processor, the M1, is based on technology licensed from Arm - Apple generally license their technologies. They wouldn't out of nowhere create a neuromorphic processor to compete. Look at IBM and Intel - they've been doing it out in the open for a decade and they are still lagging our innovations.
You are reading this thread wrong. What I am outlining is that Apple ADAS patents and their AR/VR patents are specifying neuromorphic sensors and neuromorphic circuitry. They aren't inventing neuromorphic sensors or neuromorphic circuitry, simply utilising them in a device.
where there is a dynamic vision sensor, there should be a neuromorphic processor to process the event based data. Why would you not? It seems the best way to keep the device ultra low power, ultra efficient etc
tldr: Apple isn't inventing the neuromorphic technology, only using it in their innovations
hope this makes sense
