There are many much more knowledgeable in these matters than I am. However, I just do not get this preoccupation with number of shares on issue. Who gives a froot? All that matters, now, then, and for ever before, and after, is the price of one share at a specific time and the total market value to which it translates. In the end, it is really only about market capitalization.
Although, just between us, I always prefer a smaller price per share, in the cents, kind of thing. At this level, I have always found that movements are more pronounced, in either direction, of course. And that is my take for a slow Friday afternoon with a decent Glenfarclas on my left. This one 15 years, and good value for money.
