    As far as I am aware, the answer to the original question is a no.

    Australia uses evidence based practice. Meaning anything done by a healthcare professional SHOULD always be able to fall back onto research to justify their actions.

    Therefore a GP would be taking one hell of a risk by prescribing a drug meant for one use, for another, without the backing of research to suggest its appropriate.

    Happy to be proven wrong, but I'm fairly confident its a no, that would defeat the entire purpose of doing all of these studies in the first place if a GP could go "hmmm lets have a go at using Ventolin to cure athletes foot, it might work, lets have a crack"
