In answer to your question, no. The cynical part of me is saying that she has been appointed so that OZL can say that it has a female on the board.
The rational part of me says that having a board that has a diverse background is good business as it helps to minimize "group think". With little base metal mining experience, she will ask the dumb questions, which will provide rigour and review in any proposal put to the board.
