I also like that Manalac is an oil patch pro working having worked with Philips for most of his career. That a Filipino rose to the level of VP in one of the worlds largest firms and came out of retirement to perform some public service with the RP government speaks very well of this man.
His ties to China are particularly interesting given that China is cashed up, buying resource companies and just next next door to the Palawan area. Have a look at the post on China in the OILGAS forum.
