Aztec Resources Appoints Clifford As Non-Exec Director

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Aztec Resources Thursday said it has appointed Geoffrey Clifford as an independent Non-Executive Director. Clifford, 55, has more than 25 years experience in senior accounting, finance, administration and company secretarial roles in the mining, retailing and wholesaling industries, the company said.

Over the past eight years, he was General Manager Administration and Company Secretary of iron ore miner Portman. Portman owns and operates the Koolyanobbing and Cockatoo Island Iron Ore Projects, in Western Australia.

Aztec Chairman and CEO Ian Burston said Clifford would deliver significant iron ore and commercial experience to the Board as the company progressed its mine funding, construction and development program.

Clifford's appointment is effective immediately.

Clifford was appointed director of Maverick Pty in November 1992.
