dust does many things - yes, it's insular - which means - it works both ways
it can limit the sunlight that hits the surface - thereby cooling - but, can blanket it and stop heat escaping
it can hang about for ages - the finer it is - the more it hangs about.
Armoured vehicles put up miles of dust --- you see it when farmers are ploughing paddocks - you see plumes of dust - and, that's in areas that aren't as dry as the Sahara -
imagine hundreds of tanks and other vehicles in really dry fine dust - the amount would be huge
but, of course - dwarfed by a sandstorm
but overall - whatever it was ---------- that graph has had a huge jolt and it was smack on WW2
maybe it was Co2 - because industrial production went through the roof -
but, if it was - well, that would be a shock to me - because I wouldn't expect the warming to be so fast ------- if indeed at all
and again - perhaps the chimneys pumping out water vapor and smoke or something -
I have no idea ------------- that's why it's interesting -- so clear a bit of evidence - staring us in the face
