I don't think the voting public would be overly impressed with soil sequestration and landfill gas capture e.t.c votes are won with the big, obvious in your face actions by governments.

Imagine the hard hat photo opportunity when Greg Hunt holds Tony Abbott's hand as they press the big yellow button that sends the wrecking ball into the brown coal power station flue stack... Now that is the sought of photo that the coalition can build a re-election campaign around. Remember that the coalition campaigned long and hard against Labor's carbon tax at the last election, claiming their election win gave them a mandate to repeal the carbon tax and install Direct Action.

Greg Hunt needs DICE, there is nothing that I have heard of that compares to it for emissions reductions or for being able to sway the voting public.
