Today marks the 3 year anniversary of my first afterpay share purchase, back when it was AFY. It was also the first day I ever bought shares. I didn't get onto hotcopper until a bit later, you can see my first thread on Afterpay here: https://hotcopper.com.au/threads/number-1-shopping-app-in-the-appstore.3929117/#post-29833868

Along with AFY I bought dodgy blue-chips like TCL, TLS, HVN, APO and VAS. I bought AFY because I saw a sign for "Afterpay" in a shop window and was curious what it was. Upon googling, the first thing that came up was their share info on the asx so I checked it out. A serendipitous moment for sure.

On day 1, I only dipped my toes with $1,000 worth at $2.59. A few days later they released a short business update. This was the update where they first announced crossing over $1 billion annualised sales. I bought another $10k worth at $2.87, quite a significant sum for me given I had only $50k in my portfolio. I saw something special in their numbers.

If I had've simply held those 3,870 units I would today have $190k, 17 bags. Unfortunately, I don't. There's a lot more to this story but I'll leave it there for now.
