    Regulators are not stupid and can blindly see the banks arguments for surcharges are self serving given their fear of losing all their juicy late payment interest at 19% on credit cards. Maybe the retailers should be forced to pass on the banks interest costs.

    also given the response from retailers other than those that don't offer after pay because they are cheap and have declining businesses not one retailer would want to pass the fee on to consumers and lose the customer to others.

    It's incredible how much airtime the AFR gives to regulators and the belief that they know better.

    Consumers and progressive retailers live the afterpay experience. Why stop innovation just because a greedy bank that's been pillaging for years cries fowl.
