I suppose for me I try to be as realistic and pragmatic as possible and apply probability as best I can. If I was able to whip that list up in about 10-15mins, my guess is a company with $20bln+ revenue, $2.5bln earnings, 300m active users and tens of millions of merchants integrated could probably devise something pretty solid. PayPal is also still growing, pandemic or no pandemic. The idea that they are stale and old is simply not coming through in their performance data. Agreed the outcome is not a done deal by any stretch, but again it's about probability. APT/Klarna represent an existential threat to PayPal's transaction business - a sale transacted with them is one not done with PayPal. My assumption would be PayPal have no intention of handing the crown over willingly. Not to mention once Shopify gets rock and rolling, then Square presumably, and the list goes on.
