APT isn't there to replace Googlepay and the likes, Afterpays main purpose is to be used instead of credit cards.
No one is arguing that using cash and paying upfront is better budgeting than using Afterpay (I'm not taking into consideration the few cents youd save in your term deposit by using Afterpay because that's splitting hairs).
But Afterpay is the perfect tool for the newer generations that want something, and they want it now but they dont want to put themselves into a position where they pay high interest and possibly go into a debt spiral. Afterpay is the solution because the way the business works it protects consumers from themselves by having smaller limits, capping late fees, charging no interest and cutting the customers off at the first sign of hardship.
