Lionshare AI. Appen's biggest competitor (albeit smaller) was recently sold to a Canadian telecommunications company for $975mil USD. $1.25B AUD. The company had half the revenue of APX. This would potentially value APX at $2.6bil with the cash. But you would add a multiplier for being the largest in market. Perhaps a $3b valuation as a takeover target.

Not as a takeover target the sale of Lionshare AI is probably a good sign or a very bad sign.

    1. It means management of Lionshare know they would struggle to compete with the likes of Appen and are happy to sell a growing business.
    2. A larger company will always find it harder to innovate. eg Telstra buying Appen. You'd think the company would go backwards (usually does). Or 3 very bad and the market segment is losing traction.

Lets hope its 1 and 2 combined and not 3. However Share AI raising capital at a $3.5bil USD valuation is a good sign. Very small player in the market. Let's hope it has an IPO on Nasdaq and Appen gets reevaluated.
