Assuming that you are referring to the US stock market, I don't think that the data supports the notion that first years are always the softest.
The first years of presidential first terms are not great but it's the second years of first terms, up to about the start of November that have the lousy average track record.
Earlier data back to 1953 also supports the notion that second years are crook.
The best period is from November of the second year to the end of the third year.
Of course these are just averages.
With any particular President, you pays your money and takes your chances.
I don't think presidents have that much influence on the market performance.
They just play the hand they are dealt.
Any electoral cycle repeatability in the markets has to be driven by the electoral cycle itself.
Unlike a lot of tech stocks, APX has screw-all debt, makes money and pays a dividend.
It appears that it is being lumped in along with all the other tech stocks that the market is currently tossing out of the pram.
