"alas being more than 20% down must be infuriating"

It perhaps is for day traders.. not when you invest in a company based on valuation and future prospects.

Tell me how many stocks are there that are not 20% down from their peak at a given time? It is the long term recovery that matters unless you buy high and sell low always.

You are never going to get it 100% right.. perhpas you do with your amazing charting and you never make a loss. But for a lot of us, we do not expect to make profits on every single stock.
