Bit of a shock, but understandable in many ways, Al has put is heart and soul into ARU over the last 5 years, with a large family growing up fast it must make you pause and wonder whats really important as you travel away so often.
Having met Al several times, you'd go a long way to find a better bloke.

I wonder if Gavin might step up to the role, would make sense as he understands the business as well as AS, he's a bit younger and ambitous, would not be a bad move IMO.
