Interesting news today referring to a Benchmark Mineral Intelligence report - headline "Africas rare earths could make up 9% of global supply by 2029". The assessment refers to mines in Tanzania, Angola, Malawi and South Africa - owned by companies such as Pensana, Rainbow Rare Earths and Mkango Resources. Relevantly, none are Chinese owned and all registered in Western Countries.
I have zero sense of the status of these projects and (importantly) what they mine. I remain sceptical for a number of reasons. If anyone has any idea, please do share.
In any event, another reason for us to get our skates on before rivals enter the market. We really do need to start construction by next year if want to be up and running before the decades out (this assumes inevitable project delays).
