I believe the Kavanefjeld ore could be mined and processed in a manner that is safe for people and the environment.

But that's not the problem here. The problem is that the project has been politicised. People have a natural fear when radioactive elements are concerned so it doesn't take much for politicians to turn people against mining projects that contain radioactive elements and use it to their advantage.

It wont mater how many experts or how much scientific evidence GGG use to try and convince those against the project that it will be safe. They can not be convinced.

Lynas processing plant in Malaysia was politicised and now even after 8 years of safely operating, providing high paying jobs to the community and giving back to the community, a government that is actually supportive of the project has ordered Lynas re-locate the cracking and leaching section of the processing plant outside of Malaysia because it produces a Very Low Level Radioactive waste stream with a radioactivity of 6bq/g. Lynas had even developed a soil enhancement product from the waste stream, which after 5 years of field tests was successfully proven to enhance plant growth and was proven safe. Essentially it would have been turned into a by-product, not waste.

Rational, logic and common sense are ignored when politicians make these decisions.
