i agree, a carbon tax is not needed to save the planet.
it is needed to move us away from a credit based society and towards a user pays model.
the fact that it can help by making cleaner energy more lucrative is just a convenient area of confluence.
the time of "larging it up at the expense of the next custodians" has overstayed its welcome.
only shortsighted people would think that our present economic crisis is the fault of our present policy makers.
it is indeed the deferred debt handed to us by our "future resource earning potential" backed energy hungry consumerist society.
it doesn't work.
capitalism is a ponzi scheme. it needs an overhaul. it is also damaging our house and home.
we need to become accountable. if we don't, we are headed down the same path as that other "lowest tax/higher per capita emissions" debt ridden country, America.
i do not need a $14trillion karma riddled debt hanging over my head. i am happy to pay more for the priviledge of excess.
