''The US political philosophy is different than ours at its basis.

The US was born from a revolution against a tyrannical government. That is the basis of their constitutional "right to bear arms" and gun culture. Americans are taught that there is a right and indeed a duty for good citizens to overthrow a tyrannical government.

That is very different to our base.''

I consider that a pretty good post --------- I would however note that there is an addition

''Americans are taught that there is a right and indeed a duty for good citizens to overthrow a tyrannical government.'' by the use of armed violence

one could say that France also has a ''Americans French are taught that there is a right and indeed a duty for good citizens to overthrow a tyrannical government.''

but there's a difference in France to the USA ------- French certainly do not consider storming the Palace with guns

protest signs, yes. Splashes of paint, yes. Burning some cars and breaking some glass, yes. Wrestling with some coppers, yes --

but even the (comparative) low levels of violence and property destruction fall very short of gunfights and bombs etc. --

    that is very much American.

You won't see a French person toting the gun into church for mass. Not going to happen.
