Other differences are mainly based on the staple diets of the humans involved based on what was available and other differences are cultural. Cultural differences are probably the easiest to change whether gradually or by revolution. Other characteristics take time.
Some people can be fearful of difference and are worried about change from their perceived norm not just about people but also in material things. Many would have been terrified as the industrial revolution took away old time skilled jobs. The motor car would have caused terror to many. Remember the rule they even introduced that someone had to walk in front of the car with a warning flag lol. People used to be imprisoned or put to death for suggesting the world was round etc. Fear of change, fear of difference, uncertainty, can create what is sometimes termed as racism. However, it would be wrong to say that everyone is a racist. There are people who don't discriminate in the typical racist way by differences in colour, looks, languages, etc but treat everyone with respect provided they dont do harm and abide by the laws of the land.
The people I regard as hard core racists are those who discriminate against those with differences but are law abiding and do no harm. In such cases its blatant racism. Also, its no excuse to say that because some of a particular colour, ethnicity, culture do harm its OK to tar all with the same brush even when there are those who not do such harm.

"Cultural differences are probably the easiest to change" - Is that so?
- perhaps we should appoint you as the person most able to change the culture of what is now 3rd generation Muslims in the western world - they appear to be having a spot of bother adjusting.
Good luck with that!
