I had a look back at Morgan Stanley’s advice on AMP.
In January this year with the price at about $5.20 they had a price target of $5.75.
In May they said that the Royal Commission problems were overplayed and with the price at about $4 they had a price target of $4.50.
A week ago they said that AMP would outperform over the next month. It has lost 3% since then.
No crystal ball it seems, or not a good one. As for sound basis? Well, theory says that current price reflects what is known including downside risk. The unknowns would seem to offer mainly downside.
Morgan Stanley should have known better. Eventually they will be right about calling a recovery.
