Correct me if I am wrong, however, I think consideration should be made specifically in the US around FebriDx and the use cases outside of GP consult visits. Given the use of RAT tests throughout Covid, people understand the use of the devices etc and would benefit from direct pharmacy sales also. Pin prick tests for diabetes etc already common use to test blood sugar levels etc in market today for the general public.
Outside of emergency use, FebriDx could be sold via direct customer purchase in pharmacies in the US as an initial tool to determine the requirement to visit a GP. The average cost of a GP visit without healthcare in the US is between $150-$450 plus costs of antibiotics and other medications.
Patients who visit the pharmacy to determine whether their illness is bacterial or viral and whether the need for a GP visit cost at that level is required would be a sound approach to sell this tech. Dependent on cost of the device to the public, i am sure patients would rather spend $20 on a device and determine through easy 10 minute readout if they need a GP to prescribe antibiotics over a $150 doctors visit to tell them the same thing.
