That is the only reason AUKUS is viable. I really don’t know what Admiralty or Politicians (both sides) were/are thinking.
Strategically it doesn’t seem to stack up. At all. There are obvious better options for ‘defence’ than that contract. In and out of the water.
It will fall through. It seems to have been concocted out of nothing, from a government knowing the writing is on the wall and with all the wrong motives. Morrison at his best covering 7 or so portfolios in cabinet. I’d love to know what ASIO actually think of it.
