I am a full time trader and trade under a company -thus I have to provide a BAS every quarter. This can be a pain sometimes but it also assists in maintaining records. I keep all records (ins and outs) on an excel spread sheet. I do not record every cfd transaction as I can do 40 or more in a week. It wouldn't be practical to list them all. I keep records of all other income/expenses and a running profit and loss. Again this all depends on how you are trading -eg full time trader, investor, speculator etc sole trader, company etc etc. I am no expert on taxes in fact I hate everything about them but I am aware of the basic requirements.
