The simple answer is yes. Any gains you make will be taxed (amount depends on your tax bracket). Any loss will also be claimable but again it all depends on your situation eg sole trader you can claim loss in tax year but if trading under company/trust etc then losses can only be taken forward to any future gains blah blah blah. Mate it can get complicated. I suggest you look at the ato website or ring accountant.
