Bangladesh lies on the largest river delta in the world - it stands 5.18 meters above sea level and is known to be affected by subsidence,so not a great example when trying to prove that sea levels are rising more than would normally be expected.Maybe the mud island was washed away by the annual floods this year (remember nearby Pakistan).
In regard to sea levels - change has been going on forever, both rising and falling. As a child I collected sea fossils in the Central West of NSW,I now live in Sydney and it is well known that the shoreline used to lie 6 km off the present one. There is archaeological evidence of human settlements in the Mediterranean,Pacific and Indian Oceans,North Sea and probably elsewhere from Neolithic times, long before the recent industrial era, although perhaps global warming theorists would suggest that the Neolithic tendency to make fires may have had an adverse effect on CO2 levels, thus leading to the rise in sea levels at that time.
