Chrysalis, why you would spoil your post with a silly lie like this one is totally beyond me. "...it stands 5.18 meters above sea level..."

For the record the following reference gives a reasonably comprehensive description of the physical geography of Bangladesh.

The complexities of sea level changes provide plenty of spaces for denialists to hide from the truth. The rending, ramming and rifting of plate tectonics provide one ongoing dynamic, coupled with the loading and unloading of isostatic forces. Add in eustatic changes as total oceanic volumes change with melting and freezing icecaps together with slow thermal expansion of warming surface ocean layers.

I can see how people who are unable to trust scientists might withdraw into denial. After all scientists released cane toads back in 1936 so everything they say and do must be wrong. This is the logic of denial and it is unassailable. Cast science as the enemy then believe whatever you like.

No wonder Lord Monckton is laughing.

?Laughing and scoffing about it, as climate-deniers such as Christopher get us to do, is part of the real danger here. They want to confuse and trivialize the threat.?
