Penny Wong yesterday was unable to answer the question if the federal government would be liable for their emmisions and be subject to the tax.
I would also like to know if councils are in or out as well. The Brisbane city Council which is Australias largest municipal council is on the list of the 500 largest emmitters due to its size.
So Brisbane residents face a decrease in road building, library funding etc or a substantial rise in rates to cover the cost. Residents can not elect to switch to a cleaner greener council as is the case with private enterprise.
It seems there are many details still to be sorted with this tax. Its looking more and more like the usual policy formulation that this government are famous for, no attention to detail and no appreciation of the real world affects of there implementation.
