    quickthinker - Economics and Investing are two different disciplines. At one level, they have a lot in common. But on so many other levels, they don't necessarily have that much.

    Investing is an art and a science. Economics is known as "the Dismal Science". Investing has been called "the Last Liberal Art". Get it right, and people will be studying you the way artists study Picasso.

    So study History. Study the Greats of Investing i.e. those with brilliant long term results. Think of how they would respond to your post. You'd be amazed at the number of counter arguments they'd come up with to what you've written, factual as it may be.

    If Investing were that simple, every guy with a PhD in Economics would be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch.
