.Kudos for your fact based post on this very tired debate. For the past couple of years this discussion devolved into scarcely more than a duck-measuring contest that nobody cared about.
Demand for BEVs and hybrids has strengthened in 2020 even as the overall auto market fell by double digits. In many markets EV sales blew past 10% of passenger car sales by doubling or tripling over previous year sales. For the sake of forecasting REE demand, this exponential rise in the EV market is more important than the exact breakdown of powertrains.
BEV sales are comparable to hybrid sales in Europe and China and growing at similarly rapid rates. So the growth in REE demand from BEVs is 2-5 times higher than that attributable to hybrids of various types.
