    @DavoMagic environmentalists are conservationists by definition (ie conservative). They broadly don't believe in concepts like "anthropocentricism" or the "insignificance of human impact", but they have differing views on how to best practice this.

    Making noise about how you want things to be regulated is a different thing altogether, and has no ideological specifity.

    There are posters on hotcopper who are politically conservative but spend most of their free time blanket spamming endorsements for their brand heros, and posting propaganda about their opposites - especially over on the world politics thread. They'd probably turn up to the opening of an envelope if it gave them a platform to promote their bullshit. They expect the world to conform to their own belief structures, and when people depart from them, they try to shout them down or condemn them. Some even use imaginary characters from ancient works of fiction to try and fortify their arguments, and miss-use words like "natural" to validate their opinions when they really mean "cultural".

    That doesnt make them greenies, it just makes them extremists.
