Well said, who gives a rats about the opening ceremonies. Not sure I've ever bothered sitting through the whole thing, usually just watch some highlights on the news and listen to the oohing and ahhing from the media about the interpretive nonsense that is meant to somehow portray these countries, not sport!!
(Actually I think I couldn't watch anymore after the pinnacle of opening ceremonies with Matilda winking her way around QE11 at the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth games)
The Olympics are about the athletes and the various sports and I admire the dedication and work these athletes put in and should not be confused with all the other nonsense.......................................
