While I love German cars , the cost to maintain is a bit of a killer . I urge anyone to query the spare parts prices . A mate of mine had a particularly expensive experience with an X5 BMW V8 . Really nice car but the parts prices are insane . That said , you can get insurance for that .
VW's track record with DSG gearboxes in the last few years has been pretty ordinary . Particularly VW Australia's response in fixing the problem . There's quite a bit of information about this on the web for those interested .
