it could be any sort of reason, and it might be extremely naive of you to believe that ANY MD willl answer EVERY question you have, legitimate or not. this is called inside information, and it is inherent in equity markets. you can't possibly know everything the MD knows, and there is risk involved. what you think you have a right to know, the company may or may not think you need to know.

you enter the stock market knowing it is an unlevel playing field, i don't see why this stock annoys you so much? do you know exactly what BHP are doing? RIO? with who exactly? is it legal?

journalists have interests too, as does mick whatshisface.
i dont really care, as long as his interests are aligned with mine (wealth creation through project start up). even if he gets more than you, you are either a holder and get at least some benefit, or you aren't and you don't get anything. of course you could get completely shafted and lose your investment through the actions of insiders, but thats part of the risk.
