I think the question has to be asked whether the vanadium industry is simply not effective at lobbying, despite obvious benefits over their lithium equivalents in the grid storage space. Where are VFRBs in this early emerging lansdcape or have I missed something obvious here?
I feel a sea-change towards V batts will occur when those Li storage plants start to need recycling in 5-7 years. I’m also curious to see what happens to the Li storage industry when used EV’s depreciate massively as their storage cells degenerate. This is the elephant in the room no auto manufacturers are currently addressing, besides 100000km battery warranties. How are they going to recycle these batteries?
Until then (and based on current V prices), it’s predominantly steel manufacture for V and that’s sufficient to take this puppy mining.
