    I understood the right to be conservative as in they would rather not rush to change laws without due diligence, whereas the left see no value in functioning institutions which they can hastily replace without proper regard to the consequences.

    One considers thinking through the ramifications as progress, the other sees change for the sake of it as progressive.

    Considering modern people can't recite Homer's Iliad around a campfire from memory, and have little functioning memory left (how many phone numbers can you remember by heart, as opposed to 30 years ago?)

    Have a look at the state of "education" these days, so useful and all. Today's far right is yesterday's centre, but the demonization of those who resist the lemming march to the left expands daily.
